Overview

Stories & continuity

The Goblin Hunt →

The shared first adventure of Neris, Corren, Lysa, and Silas; separate from other library continuities.

Character overview

Lysa is the party's wilderness and ranged-support specialist. She understands forests, tracks, navigation, food, weather, and travel. In combat she contributes from range with a bow. Outside combat she is the person who gets the group through unfamiliar country.

Personality

Traits
Good-hearted and practical. Independent; more loyal to people and what is right than to formal rules, matching Chaotic Good. Competent outdoors and relatively understated about it. Protective of Corren; his near-death visibly shakes her. Has her own friendship with Silas; she is not merely "Corren's girlfriend." Potentially selective socially; proposed joke says she "likes six people" and then counts Neris as seven.
Ideals
Freedom to do what is right. Competence and practical survival. Loyalty to the people she chooses.
Bonds
Corren, boyfriend and old friend. Silas, old friend. Neris, new friend who saves Corren. Her family on the village outskirts / in forest work (proposed but strongly favored).
Flaws
Corren's danger can overwhelm her usual composure. Exact personal flaws beyond this are not established.

Relationships
Corren: boyfriend and old friend. Silas: a friend in her own right. Neris: the healer who saved Corren.
Voice
- Practical, dry, concise. - Capable of sharp retorts with Silas and Corren. - In the goblin story: "Don't make that joke." after Corren jokes about nearly dying. - Proposed line: "I like people." / Silas: "You like six people." / "Seven now." — example, not current prose.

Story

Stories & continuity

The Goblin Hunt →

The shared first adventure of Neris, Corren, Lysa, and Silas; separate from other library continuities.

History, relationships & development

HISTORY

Established

  • Corren and Silas are already childhood friends before she joins them a few years later.
  • Lysa becomes genuinely close to both.
  • Lysa and Corren become a couple when older.
  • She has been farther from the village than the boys and is the likely source of the idea to leave/see the world.

Proposed/strongly favored

  • Her parents are woodsmen / foresters / hunters / trappers living on the outskirts.
  • She learns wilderness competence naturally through family life.
  • She has seen more of the surrounding world than Corren or Silas through family travel.
  • "I've never seen the sea" is the seed of the trio's departure.

Adventuring start

She leaves home with Corren and Silas. They travel only a relatively short time before reaching the coast. During a goblin investigation, Corren is badly wounded. Lysa is the one with the wilderness competence to get them toward the nearest settlement. At the Gull and Lantern she watches Neris save Corren. The next day she helps track the goblins and guides the party through the hunt.

RELATIONSHIPS

Corren

  • Boyfriend, but friendship predates romance.
  • Deep emotional bond.
  • She is visibly terrified of losing him in the opening.

Silas

  • Old friend in her own right.
  • Their relationship is likely built around mutual insults/teasing and trust.
  • She should not feel like a third wheel or appendage of Corren.

Neris

  • Meets her as the healer who saves Corren.
  • Quickly respects her.
  • Their skill sets complement one another: Lysa gets the group through terrain; Neris keeps them alive and handles people.

Family

  • Woodsman/forester parent concept is proposed, not fully locked.
DEVELOPMENT

Current identity

  • Wilderness / ranged support.
  • Skill / combat pillar mix.

Planned

  • Ranger is the clear class direction.
  • Longbow focus.
  • Survival/Perception/tracking/navigation.
  • Magic should reinforce wilderness identity rather than turn her into a generic caster.

Unresolved

  • Exact class level/subclass.
  • Exact background/feat implementation of navigation/foraging fantasy under 2024 rules.
  • Exact species/ability scores/spells/feats.

Continuities & appearances

NERIS / KIND THIEF / GOBLIN HUNT CONTINUITY
Role
Wilderness/ranged specialist of the original trio; Corren's girlfriend; Silas's old friend.

Key story events

  • Fights in the first goblin encounter.
  • Helps get the badly wounded Corren to Neris's village.
  • Watches Neris perform the first miracle.
  • Tracks goblins during the hunt.
  • Provides ranged fire and wilderness guidance.
  • Participates in prisoner rescue.

Reusable-opening note

The worried partner role can be filled by a different class/character in alternate versions. In this party version Lysa is the established partner and ranger-like wilderness specialist.
